The Way Out West story began in August 2007 and it shortly grew in size and importance in the Scandinavian area.
In 2012 it became a three-day festival with live music in Slottsskogen.
What makes it an unique event, is the incorporation of other cultural activities, such as art exhibitions and film showings at cinemas around Gothenburg.
With a strong focus on being environmentally friendly, Way Out West became the first Swedish festival that is KRAV certified.
At the evening before the first day of 2012 festival, they announced that all food served to staff, visitors and artists would be vegetarian, which led to both positive and negative reactions.
Until today, Way Out West has received national and international awards including Resume’s Monthly Outdoor Marketing Campaign and the Most Innovative Festival at the MTV Music Awards.
