An exciting seafood festival in Spain.
Fiesta del Marisco – This cultural-gastronomic festival has been held annually in October since 1963.
It’s a cultural event aimed at promoting the two mainstays of the town’s economy: fishing and tourism.
Since early days, it’s had the nickname of “Seafood Paradise”.
People come from far and wide to enjoy this festival with over 200,000 festival visitors expected.
Music and more during the festival
You can enjoy a lot of folkloric, cultural, and educational activities in addition to the dance and music programs.
There are activities specially designed for children, sporting events, as well as scientific-commercial seminars and conferences.
During the festival, shop at seafood and fish markets and make sure you sample the two stand-out specialties of the region: mussels and turbot
Every year contest of seasoned dishes with mussels.
Shrimp, crayfish, oyster, and scallops are just some of the other tantalizing delicacies on offer.
One of the many complementary activities is the renowned International Sculpture Symposium.
This prestigious event attracts sculptors from different countries.
All of this takes place along with some great music, so be sure to listen to the concerts going on during the festival!

As you’d expect from a town hosting a seafood festival, O Grove is situated on the coast with 10 kms of beaches from large sandy beaches to cozy coves.
This peninsula, facing the Atlantic Ocean in the north of Spain, is an area of natural beauty offering much for the nature lover.
There’re beautiful viewpoints out to sea, national parks, walking routes, and plenty of watersports to enjoy.
In O Grove, take a walk through the streets and squares to admire the 50 sculptures permanently on display.
Nearby, A Toxa Chapel, dating from the 12th century and entirely covered in scallop shells, is worth seeing.
O Grove is a delightful place to visit and a lovely place to relax.
Getting to O Grove
By train and bus: You can take a train to Pontevedra and get a bus from there.
The bus takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. Bus timetables: monbus.es
By car: From Pontevedra, it is between 37 and 47 kilometers, depending on what road you take.
Taking the coastal road is the most scenic option and it’s a nice drive.
Distance from Barcelona is 1200 kilometers. Madrid to O Grove is 660 kilometers.
