A visit to a Foodies Festival is a fun day out for the whole family.

Edinburgh is home to the original Foodies Festival, and it once again hosts this three-day culinary food festival in August:

The month of festivals in Edinburgh.

About Edinburgh Food Festival

The first festival was in 2006.

Since then, Edinburgh local and festival founder, Sue Hitchen, has launched more Foodies Festivals across the UK.

The festivals are celebrations of food and drink, offering the visitor a vast array of culinary delights and activities.

Mingle with the top local chefs, bakers, patisserie chefs, chocolatiers, restaurateurs, artisan producers, distillers and brewers.

It’s a truly social event where the visitor has the option to visit a variety of theatres.

There’s the Chef’s Theatre, where top chefs give cooking demonstrations, a Tasting Theatre, a BBQ Arena, a Children’s Cookery Theatre, Cake and Bake Theatre, Vintage Tea Tent, Feasting Tent, AGA Rangemaster and a Cook School to name just a few.

Your ticket provides access to all.

Vegetarian

Vegans and vegetarians won’t be disappointed with plenty of vegetarian and vegan fare available for tasting.

There will also be vegan cooking demonstrations held in the Chef’s Theatre.

Wine, Champagne and Craft-Beer

The Drink’s Theatre is the place to head if you want to sample wine, champagne and craft beer or partake in a Wine & Champagne Masterclass.

Entertainment

Chill out by the entertainment stage, which features plenty of music throughout the festival – many unsigned – to get you stomping your feet and moving to the beat.

The festival ethos is creativity, positivity and fun, focusing on developing skills and being true to yourself.

Places to stay and hotel tips

Old Town Chambers is a hotel with style, located in the central location in Edinburgh.

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Waverley railway station and 5 minutes from Edinburgh castle.

Its apartments are luxurious and modern, and they all feature, of course, free WiFi Internet.

They range in size, and there are the ones with fully fitted kitchen and dining area, luxury bathrooms and some with stunning scenic views of the city, TV and sound systems.

If you want to spend your time in Edinburgh in style, spend it in the Old Town Chambers on the Royal Mile.

How to get there

The festival takes place at Inverleith Park, Arboretum Road, Edinburgh.

This park is opposite the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It’s approximately 3 kilometres from the centre of Edinburgh and can be reached by bus or on foot, and either option will take around 25 – 30 minutes.
