About the Renaissance Festival Fete du Roi de l’Oiseau
For four days, the town of Puy-en-Velay in the Haute Loire region kits itself up in Renaissance style:
With battles, archery displays, music, markets, Medieval kitchens, costumed townsfolk, soldiers, artisans, and pilgrims.
Have a jolly time, learn some crafts, and experience the pageantry of the 16th Century as more than 6,000 re-enactors converge on this town for a time long past.
Food & Drink, Music and Entertainments
Fete du Roi de l’Oiseau first started in 1986.
The festival always launches with a symphony of Renaissance music on the first day.
Take a gander at the dance balls that sprout daily, witness the old wrestling rituals, watch the theatrics of “The Enigma of Coquillards”, and finish it with a Sunday parade.
Be sure not to miss the majestic ceremony of the crowning of the new king – you must reserve seats at the auditorium, which has 800 places.
