There is always something going on in Berlin, and here is an overview of some of the most visited annual events and festivals. for all tastes and styles.
Berlin International Beer Festival
First weekend in August
A big Beer Festival held in Karl Marx Alle with presentation of over 2000 beer varieties from around the world.
Long night of museums
An annual event, 2 times per year. The “Long Night of Museums’ when most museums are open until noon 2 at night.

September and October
Large beer-festival held each year from the last weekend in September and two weeks ahead.
Not as big as the one in Munich, but it can be lots of fun here as well.
Germany’s National Day
Germany’s National Day is celebrated a few days before and during the whole day of 3. October.
Huge festival with beer, sausages and great music scene at the Brandenburg Gate.
Festival of Lights
All major attractions are illuminated by light in beautiful colors some days in October.
You can take a special sight (light)-seeing bus that connects all the illuminated sights. 12 Euro per person for tickets. Really gorgeous and worth the money.
Culture festival and Carnival
Berlin Carnival of Culture is a great people and street festival held each year during the Pentecost weekend.
Christopher Street Day
The last weekend in June. A big parade with hundreds of thousands of homophilic, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders who in this way demonstrate for equal rights.
November to December
In November there is a big jazz festival with a variety of artists around town.

Last week of November to January
Berlin is known for its many Christmas markets. 50 – 100 markets all over Berlin.
Here is an overview of the most popular and some not so well known.
31 December – 1 January New Year Celebration
Around the Brandenburg Gate. Europe’s biggest New Year celebration with fireworks, performers, and all that goes with it.
Over a million people on the famous avenue “Straße des 17. June “.
Is said to be the world’s biggest New Year party.
Berlin Film Festival
Berlinale film festival held annually in February.
