Little History of the Jazz Festival
By the mid-80’s, it added ticketed events and went into other genres – from swing and mainstream jazz and even some more modern groups.
Mid-90’s brought another change, and the festival presented music from most jazz styles and it attracted its audience to almost only ticketed events.
The aim was and still is attracting musical excellence and spontaneous creativity – on-spot making music in the Scottish capital city.
That’s the vision of this great jazz festival in the 21st century, as well, as they produced a wide range of new music and established the Edinburgh Jazz Festival Orchestra.
Supporting Scottish musicians and linking them with international ones made this festival one of the most attractive and visited, not only in Scotland, but in the whole UK.
