Museum Island
Museum Island is Berlin’s oldest and most famous museum complex. Located on an island in the center of the river Spree, which flows through Berlin.
It includes the Pergamon Museum, Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and the Bode Museum.
In addition, the Berliner Dom and the Lustgarten just nearby. Museum Island is the world’s largest museum complex and is a UNESCO World Heritage lisa.

Unter den Linden 3

Jewish Museum
Museum documenting 2000 year jew history in Germany. Were opened the first time in 1933 but closed 1938.
Plans for a new opening came at 1971. With some influence by Daniel Libeskind it was fully completed in 1998 and official opened in 2001.

Centre Judaicum
Huvudsynagoga for Jews in Berlin and was built 1859 – 1866. Was heavily damaged during the war but åteuppbyggt.
Are now used only as mueum.
Sunday-Thursday at 10.00-17.30, Friday 10.00-13.30.

Hamburger Bahnhof Museum
Germany’s oldest train station. Built 1846-47, and is now a museum of contemporary art.

Castle Köpenick
Beautiful palace which was built between 1677 – 1689 in baroque style. Became a museum in 1963.

The Erotic Museum
Erotic art and many erotic items.
Three floors, but maybe not as exciting as it may sound.
Every day from 09.00 to midnight.

Long night of museums
An annual event (2 times per year) is the “Long Night of Museums’ when most museums are open until noon 2 at night.
Tickets can be purchased on their website and most of the tourist offices in Berlin. The ticket includes travel by shuttle bus that runs between most museums that evening.
Dates for the event are different from year to year, so check their website for updated information.
Hotel Tips
A tip if you like art and want to stay near Museum Island; Art’otel is an art and cultural hotel near the museums. When you stay here you are, as it were in the middle of the event.
