Going to the Christmas Market is a great tradition in Germany; every city has at least one.
Berlin has between 50 and sometimes up to 100 Christmas markets.
Most Christmas markets start on Monday, November 27, 2023.
Some go on to the end of December, and some even a few days into January.
Here you will find the most famous Christmas markets in Berlin centre; Gendarmenmarkt, Alexanderplatz and Red Town Hall.
Even some exciting, perhaps less known little outside the centre; Spandau and Lucia market.
This is considered the most beautiful and famous, with a cosy and luxurious atmosphere.
One of the finest Christmas markets with the beautiful Charlottenburg castle in the background.
A traditional Christmas market with an ice rink and just beside the shopping department store “Gallery Kaufhof”.
A few hundred metres from Alexanderplatz. Nice and roomy market with an atmospheric ice skating rink, Ferris wheel and carousel.
Berlin’s largest Christmas market is in the cosy old town of Spandau. A piece of the S-Bahn from downtown, but well worth it.
An excellent market at Breitscheidplatz, near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
Relatively large Christmas market. Also close to the Europa Center with shopping, restaurants and a popular Irish pub in Europa centre.
Park Inn Alexanderplatz
A charming four-star hotel ideally situated at the Alexanderplatz in Berlin.
Berlin’s tallest hotel with panoramic views of Berlin and the Christmas markets at the Town Hall, Alexanderplatz, and TV Tower (der Fehrnsehnturm).
It also has a beautiful spa area.
A couple of nice hotels right beside Gendarmenmarkt, if you want to stay real close to the most popular Christmas market
Hilton Berlin Luxury five-star at the market.
Gendarme Nouveau Another good four stars hotel nearby.
