WHAT IS A FESTIVAL?
The word festival has been in use for hundreds of years and stems from the Latin factum.
A special event celebrated annually, and festivals have a long and rich history.
They bring social, cultural, and economic benefits to a community.
Traditionally, they often celebrate seasonal change or religious events representing the chance to rest after much hard work.
Today, festivals continue to celebrate heritage, culture, and traditions, and sometimes simply the art of letting loose and having fun!
A festival is a place that encourages understanding and promotes harmony.
Friendships are built, fun is had and spirits are uplifted.
Festivals create positivity and energy, through cultural exchange between people, making the world that bit better.
Festivals are bringing people together from all over the world, from all walks of life across all age groups, any beliefs and sexual orientations.
And this is something I encourage !
WHO AM I RUNNING THIS SITE?
My name is Roger Wiklund, from Sweden. I started to write a travel blog in the year 2001.
After years of travelling, I decided to create something bigger and include all the exciting festivals I discovered every year.
So in 2008, allexciting.com was started, and it is still growing and seems to help people searching for travel and festival tips.
WHY THIS SITE?
The main aim of this page is to provide travel tips and inspiration for your trip to, or within, Europe.
I use my experiences to give you an idea about festivals, villages, cities, and other destinations.
Naturally, there is no guarantee that you perceive the festivals, locations, or hotels visited in the same way or that there haven’t been any changes since I wrote about them.
Over time you’ll find more and more destinations, events and festivals at AllExciting.
Primarily in Europe and potentially more destinations around the world.
For everyone’s enjoyment of the site, there’s minimal advertising—no distracting or annoying pop-ups.
Operating costs for maintaining the site, research and travel, are covered by the commissions paid when someone books hotels, tickets or trips from this site.
What is written is from own impressions about visited festivals, and nothing is, or will be written because someone paid for it.
I haven’t been to all festivals on the site, and the organizers add many festivals and events, and that is totally free.
You may contact me for advertising of relevant products, services or festivals and suggestions.
