The Ghent Festival “Gentse feesten” – one of the largest cultur festivals in Europe
Gentse feesten, one of the largest folk festivals in Europe, has been running since 1843.
It’s a feast, a festival, and a cultural event all rolled into one.
In 2022 it counted over 1.500.000 visitors during the festival week !!
The city centre is closed to traffic and taken over by street artists, acrobats, and musicians.
Over 300 organisations arrange almost 4,000 events in 360 locations.
There is something to suit every taste.
On Friday, it kicks off with an incredible fire landscape that starts in the park and moves to all the different squares in the Festivities Zone.
And plenty of top-class artists take to the podiums across the city.

How to get there
Ghent is easily accessible whether you’re driving or travelling by public transport.
Close to the E17 and the E40 motorways intersection, it’s just under an hour’s drive away from Brussels International Airport.
There are two train stations and the journey from Brussels takes just half an hour.
The Gentse feesten occurs at various locations throughout the city, but the beautiful Old Town is the main centre of the event.
Ghent Jazz Festival
Coinciding with the Gentsefeesten is the internationally renowned Ghent Jazz Festival.

Oktoberfest Berlin on Kurt-Schumacher-Damm
Berlin largest Oktoberfest held annually at Zentral Festplatz am Kurt-Schumacher-Damm near Tegel Airport.
It can not be compared with the one in Munich, but still fun to join if you are in Berlin in early October or late September.
Roundabouts, food and fortune
Around the place, there are plenty of stalls with food, rides and assorted pinwheel.
If you’re lucky, you get to wear on a naturally great giraffe rest of the evening, so be careful.
Party tent
The tent is 1600 square meters, and it gets pretty busy when it becomes full.
The party closes at midnight at the weekend and an hour earlier on weekdays.
The entrance fee also varies.
Not a lot of people in the tent on the weekdays.
So if you want to see the big party, it’s best to come on Fridays and Saturdays.
Keep track of when the last bus goes back if you plan to be there the whole evening. Otherwise, it’s a taxi that applies.

Stay in Central Berlin
Park Inn Hotel is very central at Alexander Platz and close to everything by the Metro and Underground.
One of the most fancy
A five-star design hotel with nice bright colors and shapes everywhere. Located 25 minute walk from Frankfurter Tor.
The easiest way to the festival from here is to take the tram from Warschauer Straße.

Chateauneuf du Pape; One of the best wine villages in France
Chateauneuf du Pape
– Beautiful and one of the best wine villages in France
Away from the coastal regions of the French Riviera, Southern France has many more treats in store.
The small commune Chateauneuf du Pape may be in the province of Provence, but it still belongs to the Rhone Valley wine district.
A half or whole-day excursion to this scenic village may be enough to explore the beauty and taste some great wines.
Chateauneuf du Pape is known as the summer residence for the Popes in Avignon.
Avignon was the seat of the popes between the years 1309 – 1377.
It may be hard to imagine this now, but back in those days, the ‘Avignon Popes’ had a great love for wine, drinking large quantities and helping promote the local wines to others.
The Chateauneuf du Pape wine is terrific and a bit expensive.
If you’re interested in buying some of the local Chateauneuf du Pape wines, this is the best place to do so.
Prices can be double and up to three times more expensive at home (especially in Scandinavia), so you’ll save on any bottles you purchase here.
Chateauneuf du Pape is all about Wine
One of my favourite pastimes in Chateauneuf du Pape is to wander along the numerous wines’ quaint streets and taste samples.
You’ll find wine merchants around almost every corner, and because it’s all about the wine here, this is an excellent place for wine lovers!

Stay at an excellent and beautiful castle in Chateauneuf du Pape.
Hostellerie du Château des Fines Roches is a 4-star castle hotel with a gourmet restaurant.
The pool area has excellent surroundings, and you can sit on the terrace with beautiful panoramic views of the vineyards.
Chateau de Varenne, only 4 kilometres from Chateauneuf du Pape, is another castle hotel that gives you the feeling of an authentic French castle.
The hotel has pleasant surroundings with stunning views over the Luberon and Mont Ventoux.
The hotel also has a tremendous relaxing outdoor pool area.

The Duckstein Festival takes place in the welcoming atmosphere of Hamburg. It is a summer highlight in Hamburg Harbour City. The theme of the Duckstein festival is Kunst Kultur Kulinarisches (art, culture, gastronomy). Duckstein Beer Festival has long been a tradition in Hamburg with Music, design, international street theatre, fine dining and, of course, the Duckstein beer. This open-air festival moved to the Magdeburger Hafen in HafenCity in 2014. The new venue offered the additional space needed and allowed for a conceptual change, growing in popularity. There are two main venues for street performers and aerial acrobatics. Besides, the music tent at Dar-es-Salaam Platz is where you’ll enjoy the artists performing in an unexpected and delightfully unplugged atmosphere. There will be live music acts – jazz, soul, lounge – where you can kick back and enjoy a glass or two of Duckstein beer. The program also includes: Handmade and design market. Stand-up comedy and Fleamarket While in Hamburg, you might like to join one of the two exciting beer seminars run by Duckstein. These seminars offer an informative and interactive opportunity to learn more about the art of beer making. This out-of-the-ordinary and distinctive beer has been brewed in Konigslutter passionately since the 17th century.About Duckstein festival
