About Templars Night in Ponferrada
Brief History
Dating back to 1211 AD, under the rule of Alfonso IX.
The Order of the Templar was put in place to protect and defend the Way of St. James, of which devout Christians embarked to offer a prayer to the Apostle James the Elder.
Ponferrada Castle was used as a sanctuary for those travelling along the path until 1307 AD, when King James Philip IV of France, demobilized the Knights Templar as a result of distrust and growing financial debt.
Due to the power and size of the Knights Templar, many find the disappearance of the organisation to be untrue.
Myth says, they still exist today underground.

As the first full moon of the Summer Solstice emerges, a ceremonial Parade will be held in the direction of the Castle of Ponferrada, opening the doors of the Fortress of the Templars.
